Mary Putnam Peck RN, RPSGT, HT(ASCP)
I have worked in the fields of the life sciences, research and traditional Western medicine for almost 30 years, finally settling on a specialty in sleep medicine. Over the years I developed an increasing dissatisfaction and the feeling that there was something missing in the traditional Western medical practice.
In 2001 while doing some research on complimentary modalities to augment my traditional skills I came across a modality called "Reiki". In early 2002 I took my first Reiki class and haven't looked back. Since my introduction to Reiki, I have worked to gain Master/Teacher competency in several different "flavors" of Reiki including Gendai Reiki, Usui Reiki, Kundalini Reiki, Diamond Reiki, Karuna KI, Imara Reiki, Ma'heo'o Reiki and am currently studying Medicine (Hoop) Reiki (a blending of traditional First Nations ways and Reiki).
Shortly after beginning my path with Reiki I began to bring a lifelong hobby - geology - into my Reiki practice by combining crystals with their inherant healing properties into my Reiki practice. Two years ago I began "playing" with the healing properties of sound through the use of singing crystal bowls, Reiki DrummingTM nad by becoming a Remo HealthRHYTHMS(TM) certified drum circle facilitator.
Infinite Reiki
Infinite Reiki is a full service Reiki practice with private callout sessions scheduled by appointment for humans and all types of animals, classes in Usui Reiki Ryoho levels I, II and Master, Gendai Reiki-Ho levels Shoden, Okuden, Shinpinden and Gokuikaiden and Reiki Drumming(TM). I also participate in several shares or healing circles each month. If you would like to schedule an appointment or class or if your group would like a talk or demonstration of Reiki I am available for educational outings, Stress Relief Days and Employee appreciation days.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a healing practice which originated in Japan in the early 1920's when Mikao Usui in a moment of Enlightenment saw the entire system laid out before him in it's entirety. Reiki is non-invasive and practitioners place their hands slightly above or lightly on the person receiving the treatment. The client is fully clothed at all times. The goal is to facilitate the client's own healing response by channeling energy and removing blockages to the natural flow of the universal life force energyand by promoting relaxation. This helps the client bring their own energy field back into balance and facilitates the natural healing process.
Working with the body's subtle energy field and bringing the body back into balance with nature has been a part of homeopathic medicine for most of human history. First Nation's medicine men and women, acupunturists, herbalists, those who practice "Laying on of Hands" all work at some level to bring us back to balance through working with our energetic body. Reiki compliments all other healing modalities, be they traditional Western or Eastern medicine.
